I’m an editor.
overview
I have more than nine years of experience reviewing manuscripts as a developmental editor, copy editor, managing editor, and proofreader.
My expertise and interests are interdisciplinary, both scholarly and creative, from engineering and nursing to sociology, history, education, and memoir.
editing philosophy
As an author myself, I know that each writer has a unique vision and voice. For this reason, I use a collaborative approach for editing that maintains authorial intent while adhering to house style and grammatical conventions. I meet and talk with writers to ask questions about their writing, offer options for revision, and direct them to other helpful resources.
working with me
All writing benefits from close inspection and consideration at different stages of its generation, revision, and production. I am eager to work with writers at any stage of the process.
Representative clients: Whitman College; University of Georgia Press; University of California, Davis, Strategic Communications; ecology research journals; individual scholars
I usually bill by the hour, $35-55, depending on the service. I work with you in-person, by email, and by phone. I need a hard copy of the manuscript for some services. Please query about specific services and rates for your writing project.
I am a past member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and hold a business license to operate an editing service in Healdsburg, California.
